Morocco doubles tomato exports to Ireland, hits record high
Morocco exported nearly 3,400 tons of tomatoes to the Irish market during the 2024–2025 season, generating an estimated $7.5 million in record revenue.
This volume is double last year’s figure and exceeds the previous record.
While Ireland remains a secondary destination, accounting for less than 1% of Morocco’s total tomato exports, its growth trajectory is significant. The peak came in January 2025, with 542 tons shipped in a single month, coinciding with Ireland’s seasonal demand surge.
Morocco’s agricultural export strategy has transformed the sector over the past 20 years. Between 2005 and 2023, exports of fruits and vegetables grew by 120% in volume and fivefold in value, reaching €3.7 billion.
Tomatoes lead with nearly 600,000 tons shipped annually, representing about half of all vegetable exports, followed by berries and avocados.
