ICC issues arrest warrant for Libyan militia member over war crimes in Benghazi
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Saif Suleiman Sneidel, a Libyan national accused of committing war crimes.
Sneidel is alleged to be a member of “Group 50,” a faction within the Al-Saiqa Brigade, and is suspected of involvement in murder, torture, and acts outraging personal dignity in Benghazi and its surrounding areas.
According to the ICC, there are reasonable grounds to believe these crimes took place between 2016 and 2017 during intense conflict in Libya. The charges highlight the court’s continued efforts to hold individuals accountable for atrocities committed during the country’s protracted instability.
