Egypt’s President sends message to King Mohammed VI
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has sent a written message to King Mohammed VI. The message was handed over by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita during a meeting held Wednesday in Rabat.
The two officials discussed bilateral relations, cooperation prospects in various sectors, coordination of stands regarding issues of common interests as well as latest developments on the regional and international scene, including the Palestinian issue, the Libyan crisis, and Egypt’s water security.
In a statement to journalists, Abdelatty said Cairo supports the sovereignty & territorial integrity of countries, rejects interference in their affairs, and opposes military solutions.
He also expressed his country’s determination to continue strengthening relations with Morocco in all fields, especially in the current regional and global challenges.
The two countries, he said, reject the policy of starvation and call for the resumption of food and medical aid to Palestinians, hailing in this regard the efforts made by Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, and by Bayt Mal Al-Quds.
On the Libyan issue, the Egyptian minister praised Morocco’s efforts leading to “the Skhirat agreement.”
Bourita reiterated Morocco’s support for Egypt’s water security as Cairo and Addis Ababa are in loggerheads over the construction by Ethiopia of a large hydroelectric dam at the headwaters of the Nile River, known as the “Grand Renaissance Dam”.
