New commercial maritime route to connect Agadir, Dakar

A new commercial maritime route, operated by Atlas Marine Group, will connect Morocco’s Agadir to Senegal’s Dakar. The new maritime link is meant to optimize freight transport and meet the logistical challenges related to overland routes.

The new route will facilitate the flow of trade between Morocco and West African countries by reducing transport costs and increasing the efficiency of commodity and truck transport.

This ambitious project will contribute to boosting trade exchanges and open new horizons for investment between the two parties.

The route’s launch related memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday in Agadir by President of the Souss-Massa Regional Council, Karim Achengli, and President of Atlas Marine Group, Gregory Darling.

The establishment of the Agadir-Dakar trade maritime route is part of the implementation of the Royal Vision, which places great emphasis on strengthening African cooperation, Achengli said after the signing ceremony.

This project will bring added value to existing trade between the Kingdom and other countries on the African continent, Achengli said, noting that the new trade line will also help promote sustainable development in the Souss-Massa region.

For his part, President of the Souss-Massa branch of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Driss Boutti, said that the launch of the Agadir-Dakar commercial maritime route was part of a drive to strengthen the fruitful cooperation and partnership between Morocco and African countries.
