Morocco elected head of general secretariat of African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions
Morocco’s Court of Accounts has been elected Chair of the General Secretariat of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) during the General Assembly of this regional organization convening in Tripoli (Libya) Dec.2-6.
Morocco is taking part in this African gathering with a large delegation led by Mrs. Zineb EL Adaoui, President of “La Cour des Comptes”. Her election is a recognition by AFROSAI of the credibility and the role of the Moroccan Court of Accounts in the promotion of public finance auditing and good governance of public funds which are part of the country’s accountability chain.
The supreme African audit institutions are public bodies responsible for the audit of government revenue and expenditure. AFROSAI brings together the supreme audit institutions of African countries, in addition to the ECOWAS Court of Auditors, and holds its General Assembly every three years to approve its reports and renew its governance structures for the next three years.
Morocco’s election Head of AFROSAI General Secretariat will enable the Kingdom to share its expertise and strengthen cooperation between African public spending watchdogs in order to achieve a positive financial impact and make a difference to African people’s lives.
It also reflects the trust Morocco enjoys on the African and international scene and shows the Kingdom’s firm commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation spearheaded by King Mohammed VI.
