China backs Morocco’s efforts to preserve stability and security – Ambassador

The visit paid by Xi Jinping on Saturday to Casablanca highlights China’s support for Morocco’s efforts to preserve security and stability, Chinese ambassador to Rabat Li Changlin said.

Jinping was received in Casablanca airport, on his way back from a G20 meeting in Brazil, by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and head of the government Aziz Akhannouch.

The visit will add momentum to the diversification push by the two countries of their strategic partnership, the ambassador said.

The visit is also an expression of the solidarity between the two countries that cooperate on vital issues, he said.

Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan expressed great interest in the Chinese language as the two countries look forward to closer cultural cooperation, he said.

Relations between the two countries grew steadily since the visit by King Mohammed VI to China in 2016.

Morocco is a member of the Belt and Road initiative. Chinese companies invest in Morocco’s major development projects from railways to infrastructure.

Chinese firms are also attracted by Morocco’s investment in climate, its proximity to major global markets and its FTAs.
