President Macron & spouse Brigitte visit Mohammed V Mausoleum

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte visited on Tuesday the Mohammed V Mausoleum in Rabat where they paid their respects to late King Mohammed V and late King Hassan II.

After laying a wreath of flowers on the graves of the two late Sovereigns, the Macrons observed a minute’s silence for the repose of their souls.

Afterwards, the French President and his wife were briefed on the architecture of this civilizational monument, before signing the mausoleum’s visitors’ book.
President macron arrived Monday in Rabat on a three-day state visit to the Kingdom at the invitation of King Mohammed VI. Shortly after his arrival, President Macron was received by the Moroccan Sovereign. They discussed the new reinforced Moroccan-French partnership and future cooperation roadmap.

The two Heads of State discussed the situation in the Middle East and called for an immediate cessation of the attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, and reiterated the urgent need to re-launch the peace process on the basis of the two-State solution.

They signed a joint Declaration opening a new era in the two countries relations and chaired the signing ceremony of 22 deals and cooperation projects in strategic sectors including railways, renewable energies, green hydrogen, ports, education, culture, agriculture and farming.

On Tuesday, Macron received separately Head of Govt. Aziz Akhannouch, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami and Speaker of the House of Councillors Mohamed Ould Errachid, before he delivered a speech at the Moroccan Parliament. In this speech, he reiterated Paris support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, France’s clear and unwavering support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 as the only basis to achieve a just, lasting, and negotiated political solution, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The French President also reaffirmed his commitment that France will further support Morocco’s efforts to promote the region’s economic and social development, for the benefit of the local populations.
