Moroccan Economic Week in Nouakchott in December

As Morocco prepares for the upcoming Moroccan Economic Week in Nouakchott this December, both Morocco and Mauritania have reaffirmed their shared dedication to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, aiming to promote regional stability and security.

The second edition of the Moroccan Economic and Cultural Week is scheduled to take place in Mauritania’s capital, Nouakchott, from December 18 to 24. This announcement followed a meeting between Morocco’s ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, and President of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, Mohamed Zeine El Abidine Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed event preparations and discussed ways to deepen economic ties and increase trade between their nations. The first edition of Moroccan Economic Week in Nouakchott was held in December 2019.

Earlier in the year, Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, announced during an official visit to Nouakchott at the invitation of his Mauritanian counterpart the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Forum. This forum, set to convene annually, alternately in Rabat and Nouakchott, is meant to strengthen strategic relations, foster dialogue on shared issues of interest, and address mutual concerns.

Building on the outcomes of previous meetings, both countries are resolved to enhance partnerships in key sectors such as trade, investment, industry, tourism, housing, environmental sustainability, culture, security, health, agriculture, fisheries, and vocational training. This renewed commitment reflects their shared vision of forging stronger bilateral relations and contributing to sustainable growth and stability in the region.
