Morocco Olympic Football Team Advance to Semi-Finals

Morocco football team advanced on Friday to the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after beating USA 4-0 at the Stade de France.

Soufiane Rahimi opened the score for the Atlas Lions in the 29th-minute after a penalty kick. Ilias Akhomach added a second from close range at the 63 minutes before captain and Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi scored a superb third in 70 minutes.

Moroccan substitute El Mehdi Maouhoub netted the fourth in added time. With this victory, Morocco become a serious contender for an Olympic medal and builds on the country’s football success following historic World Cup performance in 2022.

After reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar, Morocco will face Spain or Japan in Marseille in their quest for a historic gold.
