Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Morocco’s central bank, Bank Al-Maghrib, was honored Saturday with an award, recognizing him as one of the world’s top Central Bank Governors.
The award, bestowed by the American magazine Global Finance, was handed over to Jouahri at a ceremony on the sidelines of the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund held in Marrakech.
Jouahri has been ranked among the world’s finest central bankers, receiving an “A-” rating in Global Finance’s latest evaluation, as reported in its “Central Banker Report Cards 2023.”
Bank Al-Maghrib is the sole Central Bank in the Arab world featured in this ranking.
Published annually since 1994 by Global Finance, the “Central Banker Report Cards” assess central bank governors in 101 key countries, territories, and regions, including the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States, and the Central Bank of West African States.
The grades issued by the magazine are categorized on a scale from “A” to “F” and consider performance in areas such as inflation control, economic growth objectives, monetary stability, and interest rate management. The magazine assigns “A” for excellent performance and “F” for an abject failure.
