Burundi’s envoy to Egypt found dead
Burundi announced Sunday the death of its ambassador to Egypt, Cheik Rachid Malachie Niragira, who according to the Foreign ministry of the eastern African country died at his residence in Cairo on Saturday.
The ministry did not provide details on the causes of the death but said one staff working at the residence found Niragira dead at 2pm in his room.
Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of Burundi, expressed his regret over the passing of the country’s diplomat.
Niragira took office in Cairo in April 2021. Prior to that position, he also served as General Consul of his country to Morocco.
