Ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, security and peace in the region at focus of phone call between Antony Blinken and Nasser Bourita

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had this Monday, May 15, a phone call with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, during which the two officials discussed the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, as well as security and peace in the region.

The US Secretary of State announced the phone call in a post on his Twitter account, saying “I spoke today with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.” “We discussed the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, strengthening the U.S.-Moroccan bilateral partnership, and efforts to advance regional peace and security,” added the US official.

Meanwhile, a statement by the U.S. State Department affirmed the determination of the United States to move forward in its economic and security cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the same time, the American official renewed his country’s full support for the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, as he intensifies the UN process toward an enduring and dignified political solution for the whole region.
