Morocco’s northern industrial zone breaks new turnout record
The Tangier-Med industrial zone, the largest industrial cluster in Africa, reported a turnover of 113 billion dirhams ($13 bln) in 2022 breaking a new record thanks to its attractiveness to investors.
The total revenue generated by the industrial zone was up 45% in 2022 compared to a year earlier as 35 new operators set up plants in the era.
The automotive sector contributed by two-thirds at 95 billion dirhams, that is a 53% increase, according to port authority data.
Besides the Renault plant, the industrial zone is home to car part suppliers operating in different automotive industry segments.
Textile and aerospace industries in the Tanger-med zone totalled 11 billion dirhams in revenue, up 10%.
