Morocco reaffirms unwavering support to Palestinian cause

Moroccan government has reiterated its strong supportive stand to the Palestinian cause, the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital.

Morocco’s “clear and constant” position has been expressed by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita at a meeting held Monday in Rabat with visiting Palestinian minister of Social Development Ahmed Majdalani.

King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, supports the Palestinian Authority and all its actions made to preserve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, said Mr. Bourita.

Morocco is opposed to unilateral actions, the Israeli settlement policy and all provocative acts that could undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, added the FM.

Rabat has relations with the State of Israel, but this does not affect the relationship between Morocco and the Palestinian people as affirmed by the King in his telephone conversation with President Mahmoud Abbas on December 10, 2022, said Morocco’s top diplomat.

The current situation in the region requires restraint and de-escalation, said Mr. Bourita, urging Palestinians and Israelis to shoulder their responsibilities and avoid unilateral policies and provocations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Prior to his meeting with Moroccan FM, the Palestinian official conferred with Moroccan minister of Solidarity, Social Integration & Family, Mrs. Awatif Hayar. Their talks were crowned with the signing of a cooperation agreement in social protection fields.

Under the agreement, Morocco pledges to share its experiences in social services and train Palestinian social workers on the use of digital technologies for a better & transparent management and inclusive development.
