Morocco & Serbia discuss military cooperation prospects

Morocco’s ambassador to Serbia Mohammed Amine Belhaj conferred on Monday in Belgrade with Serbian Defense minister Nebojša Stefanović on ways of boosting military cooperation between the two countries.

According to FAR-Maroc, an online defense news website, the Serbian minister expressed on this occasion the wish to see Morocco participate in the International Defense Exhibition due in Belgrade in October 2021.

In May, Morocco and Serbia signed in Rabat an agreement on defense cooperation, including the exchange of military know-how and experience.
The North African Kingdom is seeking to build a military industry within the frame of a strategic shift in its defense policy and modernization of its armed forces.

According to Frost & Sullivan group, a research and consulting firm, Morocco is set to become a weapons’ producing country in the few coming years as the country will host foreign factories specialized in arms manufacturing by 2025.
