India’s richest person to invest in a 10 GW project in Morocco
India’s richest person Gautam Adani is negotiating with Moroccan authorities the setting up of a giant clean energy project that would produce 10 gigawatts, Bloomberg reported.
Adani’s group is considering building solar and wind plants as well as facilities to produce and export green hydrogen, the news agency reported citing anonymous sources.
Morocco currently has a production capacity of 10 GW, of which about 37% originates from renewable sources.
The investment would confirm Morocco’s standing as a hub for renewable energy among a global push to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
The investment would position Morocco as an exporter to Europe where the appetite for green hydrogen is growing amid uncertainties regarding EU dependence on Russian gas.
