GMD Métal Group opens new unit in Tangier

GMD Métal Tanger, a subsidiary of GMD Group, a leader in the field of subcontracting for the automotive sector, has inaugurated a new unit in Tangier Automotive City, located in the industrial platform of Tanger Med.

The construction of the new industrial building, covering 30,000 m2 on a plot of land of 45,000 m2, required an investment of €50 million and will create 450 jobs. meets the latest industrial requirements and the latest generation production means.

The new industrial unit, endowed with the latest generation production means, will meet the local integration needs of car manufacturers, mainly Renault and Stellantis, two major customers of the GMD group, for the development of their new projects launched in Morocco. The new plant will also supply GMD customers in Europe and Latin America.

“With this new plant, GMD is consolidating its presence in Morocco and helping to densify the stamping ecosystem. The industrial partnership with the group is undeniably a driver of development and performance for the automotive sector, which is seeing its value chains enriched and its local integration developed in depth”, underlined Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour during the inauguration ceremony.

Thanks to this investment, combined with the expertise and technicality of its teams, GMD Métal Tanger becomes the reference site of the stamping division in terms of competitiveness and production capacity.

GMD Métal Tanger decided to set up the new plant to intensify its local presence after its successful 9-year presence in the Tangier Free Zone area.
