Egypt eyes $7bn trade volume with rest of Africa in 2022

Egypt Monday announced plans to raise exports to 10 African countries to $7 billion next year as part of a long term strategy aiming at $10 billion in value for export to Africa by 2025.
The $7 billion target is the first phase of three-phase strategy designed by the Arab country.
For this phase the government is planning to export plastic and chemical products (fertilizers, pesticides, cleaners, oils), appliances, electrical cables, vegetable products, fruits, grains, building materials, and pharmaceutical products.
Egypt, during fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021, Egypt exported only $606.6 million of goods to Africa (excluding Arab countries), totaling just $607 million and accounting for only 2.1% of our total exports, according to Central Bank of Egypt data, Arab Finance reports.
The Arab country made increase in exports a major target of the new structural reform program and is aiming at $100 billion in export every year.
