Covid-19 vaccination: Morocco reaches 3 million milestone
Morocco has deepened the gap with the rest of Africa and became one of the top countries with the largest vaccinated population after it has inoculated 3.1 million people.
This milestone was achieved thanks to sustained efforts and early work to obtain vaccines.
So far, Morocco received enough vaccines for 4 million people, with a latest shipment of 1 million doses received on Feb 24 bringing total jabs acquired by Morocco to 8 million.
Morocco plans to vaccinate 80% of its population aged over 17 and has ordered 66 million jabs from China’s Sinopharm and AstraZeneca.
The country has banned flights with some 10 countries mostly in Europe where new variants are spreading and maintained a night curfew until March 2.
New daily Covid-19 cases have dropped significantly. Total confirmed cases stood at 482,514 including 8598 deaths and 467,541 recoveries.
