King Mohammed VI has urged the cabinet to take all necessary measures to avoid that tragedies like the one that took place in Tangier last Monday occur again.
The king issued his instructions while chairing over a Ministers’ Council in Fez Thursday.
The Sovereign questioned the minister of the Interior about the tragic incident in Tangier and the measures which have been taken to avoid that such incidents occur again.
“The King reiterated his high Instructions to the Government as to the need for action by the various concerned sectors and the rapid and serious implementation of this vision, while taking all the necessary legal, regulatory and procedural provisions throughout the national territory to avoid that such painful incidents occur again,” said the spokesperson for the Royal Palace, Abdelhak El Mrini in a statement.
The minister of the interior said that as investigations on the incident are ongoing, a preliminary vision was developed in this framework.
The tragedy took place last Monday when an underground textile factory was flooded by heavy rains causing a short circuit. 28 people were killed while rescue teams succeeded to rescue 17 workers.
