Egypt signs security partnership deal with Texas National Guard

Egypt and the Texas National Guard have agreed to cooperate in the area of security, making the North African country the third country in the world to ink such a deal with Texas Military Department.

Maj. Gen. Abdelraouf A. Moussa Mohamed, Egypt’s Military Attaché to the US and Canada, signed the deal on behalf of his counry.

Egypt will, through the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP), enjoy greater access to the US and its influence.

The SPP according to Texas Military Department supports the security cooperation objectives of the United States and the Geographic Combatant Commands (GCC) by developing enduring relationships with partner countries.

Egypt is one of the world largest beneficiaries of US military aid. With the new deal, the Arab country becomes the third country after Czech Republic and Chile to join the program since its inception in 1993.
