Beirut blasts: Morocco’s King orders deployment of military field hospital
King Mohammed VI gave his high instructions to send emergency medical and humanitarian aid to Lebanon following the tragic explosion in the port of Beirut that killed over 135 people, injured some 5000, and made significant material damage.
The sovereign thus gave his high instructions for the deployment in Beirut of a military field hospital in order to provide emergency medical care to the populations injured in this incident.
This field hospital will be operated by a 100-strong staff, including 14 doctors from various specialties (intensive care specialists, surgeons, traumatologists, ENT specialists, ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, pharmacists and burns treatment specialists), nurses and other medical support elements.
The field hospital features surgery, hospitalization, radiology and sterilization units, in addition to a laboratory and a pharmacy.
The Moroccan assistance, airlifted by four military planes and four civilian planes, includes a batch of first aid drugs, food products (canned food, legumes, powdered milk, oil, sugar, etc.), tents and blankets to accommodate the disaster victims.
It also includes medical equipment for the prevention of Covid-19, in particular protective masks, visors, charlottes, gowns and hydro-alcoholic gel.
On Tuesday, King Mohammed VI extended his condolences to Lebanese president Michel Aoun, following the explosions that rocked Beirut’s port.
In his message, the Moroccan Sovereign expressed his deepest condolences and sincere feelings of compassion to the Lebanese Head of State, the bereaved families and the brotherly Lebanese people.
The Monarch also voiced Morocco’s solidarity with Lebanon at this difficult time, affirming that the North African Kingdom stands steadfastly by the brotherly Lebanese people.
