Morocco: New roadmap to promote tourism
The Ministry of Tourism has elaborated a new roadmap covering the 2020-2022 period to promote the sector, which took the brunt of the crisis entailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The roadmap, presented by Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui, during the government Council meeting held on Thursday, aims at laying the foundations for a sustainable transformation of the sector, preserving the economic fabric and employment, and accelerating the revival of tourist activities.
The plan also seeks to restructure the sector and provides for programs meant to promote domestic tourism in partnership with regional and local stakeholders.
The minister stressed the participatory nature of this program, developed in consultation with the sector professionals and the ministerial departments concerned.
The roadmap will make it possible to support tourism professionals, safeguard jobs, speed up the integration of employees in vulnerable situations, and offer tourism products adapted to the needs of local demand.
Nadia Fettah Alaoui also presented the measures adopted by her department to implement the preventive and health measures in tourist institutions and to carry out diagnostic tests for all employees, in coordination with local authorities and representatives of the Health Ministry.
These preventive measures, available in the guide published by the ministry, aim at facilitating the marketing of Morocco as a safe destination and at restoring the confidence of Moroccan and international tourists, the official said.
