Migration: Rabat & Bamako to Share Experiences, Harmonize Policies
Cooperation prospects and coordination between Morocco and Mali in migration management were at the center of talks, held Tuesday in Bamako, between Malian PM Soumeylou Boubeye Maïga and Moroccan Minister Delegate for expatriates & migration affairs Abdelkrim Benatiq.
The two officials voiced willingness to enhance further bilateral relations in various fields in accordance with the guidelines of King Mohammed VI and President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
During his visit to Bamako, Benatiq signed with Malian peer Yaya Sangaré an agreement which aims to strengthen partnership between the two countries in migration policies for a better educational, cultural and social integration of the Moroccan and Malian communities.
It also provides for the exchange of experiences between the two countries in the management of their communities living abroad and how to associate the expatriates in the socioeconomic development of their countries of origin.
Morocco and Mali agree on monitoring international migration trends, protecting migrants’ rights and supporting program for students from both countries by facilitating the acquisition of experiences through internships in private companies or in the public administration.
