Serbia & Luxemboug to Vote for Morocco’s 2026 World Cup Bid
President of the Serbian football federation Slavisa Kokeza said, following the friendly Morocco vs Serbia game, that his country will vote in favor of Morocco as host of the 2016 World Cup.
Speaking following the game, which ended with a Moroccan win 2-1, Kokeza said that Morocco is well-placed and enjoys all the assets that qualifies it to host the world tournament.
Luxembourg also expressed support for Morocco’s World Cup Bid. During a visit to Luxembourg, members of the Royal football federation (FRMF) met head of Luxembourgish football association, Paul Philipp, who expressed his country’s support for Morocco’s bid.
A FRMF delegation is touring Europe to gather support for Morocco’s 2016 World Cup Bid. France has already endorsed the bid along with the bulk of African football federations.
In order to win, the North African nation will need to convince the 207 member associations in FIFA of its capabilities and advantages in the face of the joint North American bid.
Morocco is making its fifth bid to host the 2026 World Cup, the first edition to involve 48 teams and 80 games packed into 32 competition days.
The Moroccan bid runs up against the joint might of the United States, Canada and Mexico.
