Morocco has recorded the strongest growth among major suppliers of peppers to the European Union over the past ten years, with exports jumping 88.35% between the 2016/2017 and 2025/2026 campaigns, according to Euroestacom (ICEX-Eurostat) statistics.
The Kingdom shipped 192,719 tons of peppers to EU member states in the 2025/2026 campaign, accounting for 12.72% of the total volume and generating €277.6 million in value.
This positions Morocco firmly as the third-largest supplier to the EU market, behind Spain and the Netherlands.
In contrast, the two traditional leaders saw declines. Spain, still the top supplier with 555,663 tons (36.69% market share) valued at €1.41 billion, recorded a 15.62% drop over the decade. The Netherlands followed with 324,762 tons (21.44%), down 15.19%, for a value of €689.26 million.
Turkey ranked fourth with 111,906 tons (7.39% share) and a 72.62% increase over the same period, while Germany completed the top five.
Overall, EU member states imported more than 1.51 million tons of peppers in 2025/2026, worth over €3.33 billion, at an average price of €2.20 per kilo.
