Adam Bresnu, first Moroccan & Arab golfer to Reach Quarter-Finals of US Amateur Championship

Adam Bresnu is the first Moroccan and Arab golfer to reach the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur Championship 2026 held lately at the historic Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

The 22-year-old Texas Tech University standout delivered an exceptional, milestone-setting performance during the 126th edition of the U.S. prestigious amateurs tournament. Bresnu advanced through a competitive field of 312 players in stroke-play qualifying, finishing tied for 29th to secure his place in the 64-player match-play bracket.

Sponsored by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Golf (FRMG) under its “Road to the Tour” program, the young Moroccan golfer defeated American Ward Harris (4&3), Germany’s Finn Koelle (3&2) and American Max Herendeen (5&4) to make it to the final eight.

Bresnu’s historic run ended in the quarterfinals after a 5&4 loss to England’s Jack Whaley who won the 2026 U.S. Amateur Championship Trophy.
