The president of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco, Sebastien Le Bonte, said the royal vision for a Morocco-Africa corridor is opening promising new investment opportunities in the kingdom’s southern provinces, a development, he said, that strengthens Morocco’s appeal to French businesses looking to expand their presence on the continent.
According to Le Bonte, the vision will also support broader economic development in the region and create fresh opportunities for companies, French firms among them, seeking to establish operations in Morocco. He noted that the chamber, known by its French acronym CFCIM, recently inaugurated an office in Es-Smara specifically to make French companies aware of the economic opportunities available in the southern provinces and to promote the region as an investment destination.
The chamber intends to encourage French firms to invest in the south and to take advantage of its economic momentum, Le Bonte said, pointing in particular to the opportunities expected to emerge around the 2030 World Cup across logistics, event management, infrastructure and construction.
Roughly 1,000 subsidiaries of French companies are already established in Morocco, Le Bonte said, with 20 to 30 new firms choosing to set up lasting operations there each year. Through its Business France public service concession, the chamber also supports close to 180 French companies annually in their market-entry and expansion efforts in the kingdom.
Le Bonte further highlighted the sectors currently drawing the strongest French interest, citing the automotive industry, led by Renault and Stellantis, as well as the blue economy, water management, desalination, renewable energy and decarbonization, all of which he described as key growth areas for continued French investment in Morocco.
