The Rabat-based Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the financial arm of Al-Quds Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, presented various sports equipment to the African Community Association Club on Saturday in the Old City of Al-Quds, as part of its program to support community organizations, on the eve of the launch of the 2026 summer season.
On this occasion, the Agency noted that this initiative, funded by the Commune of Fez, is part of its ongoing efforts to support and develop community infrastructure in Al-Quds institutions and to provide safe spaces dedicated to youth and adolescents.
The support provided to the association focuses in particular on upgrading the multipurpose sports hall and increasing its capacity by at least 40% during the first year, thereby helping 200 to 250 young people and adolescents living in Harat Saadiya and surrounding neighborhoods of the Islamic Quarter to benefit from the club’s renovated facilities.
In this regard, president of the African Community Association Nasser Qaws stated that equipping the club with new sports equipment is “an important step toward strengthening the resilience of the children and youth of Al-Quds and providing them with a safe sports environment that helps protect them from social ills.”
Located in the immediate vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the association strives to engage as many children from the Old City as possible through sports activities, thereby helping to empower youth and steer children and young people away from negative behaviors, he added.
The Old City of Al-Quds, with its high population density, suffers from an acute shortage of open spaces and recreational infrastructure due to urban planning and geographical constraints. The club thus serves as an important sports and social hub, particularly following the closure of the Burj Al-Luqlaq Community Center.
Earlier in the week, the Agency and the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions (ISMAC) signed a cooperation agreement in Rabat under which the Institute will host Palestinian students from the city of Al-Quds to pursue their studies and training in its areas of specialization.
Under the agreement, training positions and research fellowships will be offered to Palestinian students from Al-Quds in the fields of audiovisual production and cinema.
In accordance with the agreement, ISMAC will develop and design specialized training programs, as well as cinema and television workshops, for young Palestinian media professionals from Al-Quds through short- and medium-term study programs, in line with the institution’s academic standards.
For its part, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency will ensure the necessary funding for these training programs and provide scholarships to Palestinian students to enable them to complete their studies and, where applicable, their graduation projects.
According to the agreement’s preamble, this initiative is part of the high Directives of King Mohammed VI to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, which advocate the implementation of concrete projects with a lasting impact on the Palestinians of Al-Quds, in line with Morocco’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the city of Al-Quds.
This partnership combines academic audiovisual expertise with field-based development work, giving practical substance to efforts aimed at preserving the cultural and civilizational identity of the Holy City of Al-Quds by harnessing the potential of images, cinema, and audiovisual media to document the collective memory of the Palestinian people.
Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency continues to implement its programs in several vital sectors in Al-Quds, with nearly $3.987 million in projects relating to youth, sports, and children during the period 2000–2025.
