President of Senegal Expresses Thanks to King Mohammed VI for the Royal Pardon Granted to Senegalese Supporters

President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye has expressed thanks to King Mohammed VI for his clemency and humanity after he granted Royal pardon to Senegalese supporters convicted of offenses committed during AFCON 2025 hosted by Morocco December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.

President Faye took to his account on X to express these thanks, saying: “Our compatriots who were being held in Morocco following the incidents that occurred on the sidelines of the Africa Cup of Nations are now free. They will soon reunite with their loved ones, thanks to the Royal Pardon that His Majesty King Mohammed VI graciously granted them on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.”

“I extend my most sincere thanks to His Majesty for this decision, marked by clemency and humanity. Senegal and Morocco share a long-standing brotherhood, which this gesture once again honors. Blessed Eid to His Majesty the King and to all the Moroccan people,” the Senegalese President said.
