On Sunday, April 19, the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Douma, convened a high-level meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee, Yousef Al-Aqouri, and Member of Parliament Yousef Kamoud Al-Fakhri. Senior officials, including the Head of the House’s Office, Rasmi Balrouin, and the Director of the Relations Department, Idris Al-Farjani, were also present.
The discussions focused on recent developments surrounding Libya’s bid for the African parliamentary candidacy, particularly the campaign for Yousef Kamoud Al-Fakhri to assume the presidency of the Pan-African Parliament. Participants reviewed diplomatic strategies and coordination efforts aimed at securing broad support from member States.
The meeting further stressed the importance of aligning institutional efforts within the House of Representatives and strengthening diplomatic engagement with African parliaments and legislative bodies. It underscored the need for a unified national approach to enhance Libya’s prospects in continental parliamentary leadership.
