Nexans Morocco Wins Cables & Power Transformation Contract of Noor Atlas Solar Project

Nexans Morocco has been awarded the Noor Atlas project including the supply of cables and power transformation solutions for the solar energy collection and transmission network.

Led by Masen, with the support of Morocco’s National Office of Electricity & Drinking Water (ONEE) and Cluster ENR, the project marks a new milestone in the deployment of renewable energy in Morocco.

The Noor Atlas program includes the development of six photovoltaic power plants located across the country, with a total installed capacity of approximately 305 MW.

Scheduled for progressive commissioning starting in 2027, the project will contribute to strengthening renewable electricity generation, improving power supply in several regions and supporting Morocco’s broader climate and energy ambitions.

Nexans Morocco will deliver cables and power transformation solutions that are essential to ensuring the performance, reliability, and efficiency of the electrical network. All solutions provided for the project will be designed and manufactured locally in Morocco, leveraging the expertise of Nexans teams on the ground.

Morocco is a global leader in solar energy aiming for 52% of its electricity to come from renewables by 2030, driven by the giant Noor Ouarzazate complex. This world’s largest station uses concentrated solar power (CSP) to store energy for use after sunset, boosting energy security and decreasing dependence on fossil fuel imports.
