Hungarian radio sets audience record with live broadcast from Moroccan Sahara

Hungary’s Retro Radio drew record audiences with a special live broadcast from the Moroccan Sahara, part of its morning show aired daily from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and followed by nearly 2 million listeners.

The exceptional edition, transmitted from Dakhla, sparked unprecedented engagement on social media.

The initiative coincided with the Budapest–Bamako Rally, which went across Morocco this year, offering the station an opportunity to showcase the natural and cultural heritage of the Moroccan Sahara.

The broadcast served as a major spotlight for Dakhla and the wider region, providing Hungarian audiences with an immersive look at local landscapes and traditions.

Before heading south, the Retro Radio crew made a stop in Casablanca, where they visited key landmarks including the Hassan II Mosque and the Habous district.

Retro Radio is among Hungary’s most popular and influential broadcasters, known for dynamic programming rooted in pop culture and attracting a nationwide daily audience.
