Morocco, Senegal renew commitment to upgrade cooperation to multidimensional levels

Morocco and Senegal have renewed their shared commitment and their constant aspiration to elevate cooperation between the two countries to multidimensional levels.

This came at a meeting in Rabat this Monday between Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, and Senegalese Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, who is paying a working visit to the Kingdom to take part in the proceedings of the 15th session of the Morocco-Senegal High Joint Partnership Commission.

Both sides reaffirmed the commitment of Morocco and Senegal and their constant aspiration to elevate bilateral cooperation to multidimensional levels, in line with the will of the two Heads of State, King Mohammed VI and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the Head of Government Office said in a statement.

The two sides also emphasized that Morocco and Senegal remain faithful to the spirit of fraternity, solidarity and respect that each upholds for the benefit of the African continent, commending the role of the Moroccan community established in Senegal and the Senegalese community established in Morocco in enriching the privileged partnership binding the two countries.

Akhannouch highlighted the close human, spiritual and economic ties uniting the two countries, clearly reflected in the eight visits the King paid to Senegal.

He also referred to Senegal’s pivotal role in the Royal Initiatives aimed at promoting development in Africa, notably the Royal Atlantic Africa Initiative, which seeks to facilitate access for Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean.

This meeting was also an opportunity to note the qualitative leap achieved in terms of exchanges of ministerial visits, the strengthening of the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation, and the consolidation of the economic partnership and investments since the accession of Bassirou Diomaye Faye to the Presidency of Senegal.

The holding of the 15th Morocco–Senegal Joint High Commission on Cooperation provides an opportunity to strengthen sectoral cooperation between the two countries through the implementation of structuring projects, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, energy, trade, the digital economy, and others.
