Morocco and Senegal will hold the 5 th session of the High Joint Partnership Commission as scheduled for January 26-27 in Rabat, Moroccan authorities confirmed following a Wednesday phone conversation between the two countries’ heads of government. Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and his Senegalese counterpart Ousmane Sonko reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple strategic sectors.
The upcoming session will feature a Morocco-Senegal Economic Forum alongside the official commission meetings. According to an official communiqué, the phone call provided both leaders an opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional depth of relations between their countries under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. The statement emphasized the solid foundations of bilateral ties, which encompass strong human, religious, and economic dimensions.
The confirmation comes shortly after Senegal’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Morocco. Speaking Tuesday at the presidential palace in Dakar during a reception for the Senegalese national team, President Faye expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people for their hospitality toward the Senegalese delegation and all teams involved in the continental championship.
President Faye characterized Morocco’s hosting of the tournament as reflecting a spirit of fraternity between the two nations. During the same ceremony, he described the competition as representing “a celebration beyond football” and praised Morocco’s national team for its impressive performance throughout the tournament.
The January commission session is expected to produce concrete agreements advancing cooperation in trade, investment, security, and cultural exchange. Both governments have characterized their relationship as exemplary, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of partnership between two key African nations committed to regional integration and shared prosperity.
