Lt. General Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of Royal Armed Forces & Commander of the South Zone, received Thursday in Agadir, Maj. General MD Fakhrul Ahsan, Commander of MINURSO.
The meeting is part of the regular exchanges between the two parties. They discussed the UN mission’s activities, operational coordination, security, demining, and logistical support.
The meeting comes after the historic resolution 2797 adopted by the UN Security Council, endorsing Morocco’s autonomy initiative as the only basis for reaching a lasting solution to the Sahara conflict.
It also coincides with the visit U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs Bryan J. Ellis is paying to Morocco at the head of a high-level delegation.
