Three Dead, Including a Child, After Building Collapse in Soweto, South Africa

Three people, including a one-year-old child, were killed when a building collapsed in Soweto, a township in Johannesburg, in the early hours of Sunday, December 28. The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (JEMS) reported receiving an emergency call shortly after 3:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).
Six people were inside the structure at the time; three were trapped under the rubble. Two adult women and the child later succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining three occupants were hospitalised, with their conditions yet to be disclosed. Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the collapse. Emergency officials urged residents to report visible cracks, shifting walls, or unsafe buildings to prevent further tragedies.
