Trump and El-Sisi reaffirm commitment to Gaza ceasefire implementation

US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi have reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of the recently brokered Gaza ceasefire agreement.

In a phone conversation on Thursday, October 9, El-Sisi emphasized the need to expedite the enforcement of all stages of the truce, which he described as a “historic milestone.” He commended Trump for his “tireless and successful efforts” in securing the deal, expressing gratitude for the US leader’s steadfast dedication to peace in the Middle East.

Trump, in turn, voiced satisfaction with the landmark accord and praised Egypt’s pivotal role in achieving stability, particularly through its facilitation of the Sharm El-Sheikh talks.

During their discussion, El-Sisi extended an invitation to Trump to attend a ceremony in Egypt marking the ceasefire’s signing — an offer the US president welcomed warmly. Earlier in the day, El-Sisi met with Trump’s envoys, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Stephen Witkoff and Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, alongside Egypt’s intelligence chief Hassan Rashad and US Ambassador Herro Mustafa.
