Thunes launches real-time payment service in Morocco
Thunes company, a global leader in cross-border payments, has launched its real-time money transfer service in Morocco, one of the major remittance recipients in Africa.
The new service enables payouts in Moroccan Dirham (MAD) and gives Thunes’ Members greater access to Morocco’s increasingly connected and digitized economy.
According to the World Bank, Morocco received over USD 11.5 billion in remittances in 2023 from overseas, underscoring the importance of efficient and affordable cross-border payments into the country.
A Thunes 2025 report “Monet without Borders” underscores the critical role of speed in cross-border money transfers. The study showed that 65% of expatriates prioritize speed above all else when selecting a payment method.
Thanks to Thunes’ direct connections into the Moroccan banking network, transactions from every corner in the world into the Kingdom will be faster, transparent and cost-effective.
The network of the Singapore-based company spans over 130 countries, 80 currencies, and 320 payment methods, connecting to 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts globally.
