UNDP supports Morocco’s green SMEs, drivers of inclusive growth
UN Development Program Country Office in Morocco has hosted a meeting in honor of selected Moroccan SME for the “UNDP Green Growth & Jobs Accelerator Project”, which supports green & sustainable transition of SMEs while enabling green jobs for women and youth in the Kingdom.
The four-year program of the UN agency, which started in 2023, aims to support 200 Moroccan innovative green SMEs and help them create 1,000 direct jobs and 2,500 indirect jobs, contributing to building a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient economy.
This program reflects UNDP commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic development, said UNDP representative in Morocco Ilaria Carnevali, noting that the “Green Growth & Jobs Accelerator Project” is not just a funding mechanism but a transformation platform.
“We’re building a business model combining profitability, sustainability, and decent employment”, she added, affirming that this initiative helps create a sustainable and impactful future.
The selected SMEs for the UNDP Accelerator Program engage in various meetings and workshops focusing on refining business strategies, sustainable business practices, and pitch development.
The Selection Committee consists of representatives from UNDP, industry experts, mentors, and potential investors who evaluate businesses based on their pitch, business model, commitment to sustainability, and potential for growth, innovation, and economic development.
