The Algerian military regime, de facto ruler, is using an array of tactics to maintain its grip on decades-long power. Its strategy consists of bringing and fueling chaos, divisions, separatism and conflicts to perpetuate its illegitimate and oppressive ruling.
To muzzle political opponents and pro-democracy militants, the Algerian authorities resort to foreign conspiracy rhetoric and narrative prompting international mockery.
And in a bid to maintain its influence over its southern Sahel neighboring countries, the Algerian junta is driving insecurity through its support of extremist groups and armed militias fighting governments in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
According to French “Sahel Intelligence” media outlet, testimonies of retired Algerian officers, exiled journalists and former intelligence officials confirm the nexus between the Algerian army and Sahel terrorist groups.
Leaked documents of the Algerian gendarmerie cite “grey zones” in southern Algeria, where armed groups transit, get weapons or take refuge, while Algerian military border guards turn a blind eye to these illegal activities threatening regional peace and stability.
According to Western security experts, the Algerian military regime uses “divide & conquer” tactics to weaken neighboring governments, especially those refusing Algerian interference.
Furthermore, persistent instability in the region allows the Algerian army to justify its power and growing military expenditure used by the corrupt Generals to line up their pockets.
European and African intelligence agencies have established connections between the Algeria-backed Polisario group and terrorist networks operating in northern Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, and even Libya.
Algeria, which arms, funds and shelters the Polisario armed militia becomes country sponsor of terrorism as Iran with its Hezbollah and Houthi proxies, labelled by the U.S. foreign terrorist organizations.
Now time has come for the Polisario and its Algerian puppeteers to be held accountable for crimes committed and participation in the Mullah’s terrorist and destabilizing agenda.
