OCP Group launches first technology innovation day for sustainable industry

Morocco’s OCP Group, through its ManufacturiX platform within the Strategic Business Unit Manufacturing, organized the inaugural OCP InnovateX Day at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir on Tuesday. The event focused on technological innovation for sustainable industry, bringing together participants from industrial companies, startups, research centers, and academia.

The initiative, launched in partnership with UM6P, provided a forum for exchanging innovative solutions addressing strategic and operational challenges within OCP’s manufacturing operations, with the goal of eventually integrating these solutions into the Group’s industrial processes.

Abdenour Jbili, Director of ManufacturiX and CEO of OCP Maintenance Solutions, emphasized the vital role of youth in driving technological transformation. “Young people, who currently master technology and information, are a source of inspiration and change for building the future,” he said, adding that project developers, inventors, and entrepreneurs are fundamental to supporting and contributing to industrial transformation.

This first edition attracted over 500 participants who discovered innovative solutions from more than 35 companies representing 25 countries. These participants were selected from among 2,500 applications received in December 2024, with several Moroccan companies showcasing their talent and expertise at the event.

“This event is of capital importance as it connects applied innovation to industrial needs,” Jbili noted, explaining that it offers innovators the opportunity to test their solutions at industrial scale to adapt and implement them in the field. The company plans to make OCP InnovateX Day an annual event to develop a solid network, diversify innovation sources, connect them to industrial needs, and address future challenges.

Ahmed Mahrou, Managing Director of SBU Manufacturing at OCP Group, highlighted in a video message that the event builds bridges between industry and academia, as well as between startups and the economy, to present and share innovative ideas that enrich industrial-scale production chains.

“Today, we are not just observing, but we are committing to responsible and sustainable innovation,” Mahrou stated. “Over time, we hope to become a vibrant and dynamic meeting place where talent and technologies converge to create more sustainable and productive intelligence.”

The event featured panels, exchanges, and presentations aimed at identifying, optimizing, and promoting innovative and concrete solutions in an advanced industrial environment.
