First Morocco–UAE Business Council Convenes in Sharjah
The first Morocco–United Arab Emirates Business Council was held on Wednesday in Sharjah, marking a new milestone in the strengthening of economic and trade relations between the two countries, which are bound by a solid friendship and advanced economic cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the strategic role of this Council as a catalyst for investment and a platform for dialogue between economic stakeholders from both nations.
The Council is co-chaired on the Moroccan side by Anas Guennoun, Vice-President of the International Affairs Committee of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), and on the Emirati side by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, President of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Al Owais stated that this first session of the business council represents a major step forward in the exceptional bilateral relations between the two nations, which are witnessing growing progress in all areas.
He highlighted the concrete opportunities the Council will offer to businesses and investment institutions, thanks to the active support of the UAE Federation of Chambers, the CGEM, and the relevant ministries, administrations, and institutions of both countries.
The UAE boasts proven expertise and offers multiple investment opportunities, further fostering cooperation and economic exchanges with Morocco, he added.
CGEM President Chakib Alj on his part recalled that the creation of this Council is part of a joint initiative between CGEM and the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and highlighted the significant prospects for bilateral cooperation, particularly in key sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, agri-food industry, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technologies.
Alj also welcomed the growing number of Moroccan companies choosing the UAE as a hub for their activities, as well as the significant increase in Emirati investments in Morocco, reflecting the dynamism of bilateral economic relations.
The CGEM president also praised the development momentum Morocco is experiencing under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, who has positioned the country as a preferred destination for international investment.
