U.S. defense manufacturer Lockheed Martin has shown interest in Morocco’s investment opportunities offered in the defense industry which has attracted several companies including India’s Tata Advanced Systems, Turkish Baykar, Bluebird Company…
A senior Lockheed Martin delegation led by Brig. Gen. Joseph Rank (Ret.), CEO for Africa & Saudi Arabia, visited lately Rabat and Casablanca to advance partnership with Morocco and support local innovation and industry.
In Casablanca, the American delegation visited key industrial companies including TDM Maroc, SABCA Maroc, Collins Aerospace RFM, and Exellia Maroc, which provide an important supply chain for investors.
The delegation also held discussions with senior officials in Rabat, reaffirming Lockheed Martin’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s defense priorities. Topics included exploring new opportunities for capability building, promoting workforce development, and further aligning with Morocco’s goals for a more self-sustaining defense industry.
The visit aligns with Lockheed Martin’s broader strategy to further integrate Moroccan suppliers into its global supply chain, increase local content in its platforms, and enhance local manufacturing capabilities.
“Our enduring relationship with Morocco reflects a shared commitment to innovation, security, and economic progress,” Mr. Rank said. “As we continue to deepen our collaboration, we aim to advance Morocco’s defense capabilities, expand local expertise, and also contribute to long-term industrial and economic growth”, added the top executive of the American defense Company.
Lockheed Martin’s partnership with Morocco started in 1974 with the delivery of the first C-130H Hercules tactical airlifter to the Royal Moroccan Air Force.
Today, the company’s contributions include advanced defense platforms such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, Sikorsky helicopters, radars, and integrated air and missile defense technologies.
This growing partnership, supported by ongoing knowledge-sharing efforts, highlights Lockheed Martin’s commitment to advancing Morocco’s defense industry.
