El Salvador reiterates support for Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Sahara
The Republic of El Salvador has reaffirmed steadfast support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire Saharan territory.
The supportive stand was voiced by Mr. Félix Ulloa, vice-President of this Central American country during a meeting held Monday in San Salvador with Fouad Yazourh, Director of International Political Affairs at Moroccan foreign Ministry on the sidelines of the second session of political consultations between the two countries.
Mr. Yazourh lauded the excellent ties between Morocco and El Salvador and the two countries’ shared commitment to peace, respect of sovereignty of states, and inclusive development.
He also commended the transformation underway in El Salvador, under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, who is consolidating the country’s security, stability, and economic development.
Prior to his meeting with Salvador’s Vice-President, the Moroccan diplomat conferred, during the second session of the bilateral political consultations mechanism, with deputy foreign minister Mrs Adriana Mira on ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, particularly in matters of development and economic exchanges. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interest.
“For El Salvador, this session is of paramount importance in our strategy to deepen our ties with Morocco, a key partner and a doorway to the African continent,” said the Salvadoran deputy Foreign Minister, who expressed her country’s will to further strengthen ties of friendship and collaboration with Morocco.
“Currently, Morocco is one of our country’s main allies in Africa, and the first on the continent to host a Salvadoran embassy, making it a bridge to strengthen and expand ties with this region,” added Mrs Adriana Mira.
“For us, this is an opportunity to work together so that the interests of El Salvador are integrated into Morocco’s agenda, and vice versa. El Salvador is a partner that we have chosen, and with whom we wish to carry out joint actions and evolve our relationship,” said Mr. Yazourh.
During this session, both parties committed to working to implement cooperation projects in areas with high added value, such as tourism, renewable energy, health, education, environment and culture.
They also underlined the opportunities offered on both sides to stimulate the growth of economic exchange through trade and investment.
