Japanese companies explore investment opportunities in Morocco’s automotive sector

Japanese companies have launched a prospecting mission in the automotive sector in Morocco, the aim being to strengthen economic ties between Morocco and Japan.

The prospecting mission, running from February 3 to 5, seeks to introduce participating Japanese companies to Morocco’s business environment and the various potential opportunities in the automotive sector.

At a meeting Monday with the Japanese mission, Director of Investment at the Investment Ministry, Hicham Chaoudri, and Head of the Automotive Department at the Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), Maria Ouazzani Chahdi, emphasized the importance of this mission, which will further strengthen the relationship between Morocco and Japan, both at the level of economic players and between companies and public authorities.

Japan is currently one of Morocco’s key partners in Asia, they noted, highlighting the strong economic momentum between the two countries, particularly in terms of investment, with over 70 Japanese companies having chosen to invest in the Kingdom, mainly in the automotive industry.

This situation reflects the success of Japanese companies in the country, their confidence in Morocco’s business environment, and their willingness to continue expanding in the Kingdom.

Morocco has established itself as a regional economic powerhouse with a modern and highly diversified economy. The country remains a particularly attractive investment destination, offering a favorable business environment, the two Moroccan officials underlined, noting that Morocco is now recognized as a world-class hub for both investment and export.

Morocco is the first African country to have a high-speed train, linking several major hubs, including Casablanca, Rabat, Kenitra, and Tangier, not to forget that the Kingdom is connected to more than 130 cities through its 18 airports.

The Prospecting mission is organized by the Japan External Trade Organization Rabat (JETRO Rabat), in collaboration with the Moroccan Association for the Automobile Industry and Trade (AMICA), AMDIE, and the Tanger-Med Special Agency (TMSA).
