Saudi Arabia hosts Arab-Islamic emergency summit on Israeli aggression on Palestinian, Lebanese Territories
Saudi Arabia is hosting this Monday an Arab-Islamic emergency summit aimed at addressing the intensifying crisis in Palestine and Lebanon. The summit is gathering leaders from across the Arab and Islamic world, with discussions expected to focus on Israel’s military actions and escalating violence in the Palestinian and Lebanese territories.
Morocco’s King Mohammed VI is represented at the summit by Head of the Government Aziz Akhannouch who arrived Sunday evening in Riyadh. The Moroccan delegation also includes Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
The Summit was preceded by the preparatory ministerial meeting, with the participation of Arab and Islamic member States, including Morocco.
This Summit builds on the Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023, as Arab and Islamic leaders recognize the urgent need for unified efforts and a collective stance to address the dangerous and unprecedented developments in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories as well as in Lebanon, and the repercussions of this war on regional security and stability that require solidarity and coordination of positions among member States.
For the Monday summit, key priorities include halting the aggression, protecting civilians, providing support to the Palestinian and Lebanese people, unifying positions, and exerting pressure on the international community to take decisive steps to end the ongoing attacks and establish lasting peace and stability in the region.
Arab and Islamic countries all agree on the need to halt the aggressions and to revive the peace process to ensure a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace, and support the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.
