Libyan Italian Business Forum represents a new and strong step towards strategic cooperation

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, alongside Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, officially opened the 30th Libyan-Italian Economic Forum at the Exhibition Grounds in Tripoli, which took place from October 28 to 29.
In his opening remarks, Dbeibah emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation with Italy, highlighting recent significant developments. He announced the return of Italian ITA Airways to operate flights from Libyan airports starting next December and mentioned the upcoming launch of the Emssaed-Ras Ajdai coastal road project.
Dbeibah also expressed his satisfaction with the positive momentum in reactivating the friendship and cooperation agreement that had been suspended for 14 years, including the lifting of travel restrictions for Italian businessmen visiting Libya.
In her address, Prime Minister Meloni expressed pride in the collaborative efforts between Libya and Italy to achieve shared goals. She reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting Libya in attaining economic sustainability, noting that trade volume between the two nations had doubled in 2022-2023. Meloni characterized her fourth visit to Tripoli as crucial for reinforcing relations and striving for a successful partnership across various sectors.
The forum is witnessing significant participation from both local and Italian companies, aimed at enhancing trade prospects between the two countries. Economic sessions are also being held, featuring discussions among businesspeople from Italy and Libya across diverse fields.
