Morocco: Princess Lalla Meryem & France’s First Lady launch campaign against cyber-bullying in schools
Princess Lalla Meryem, President of the National Observatory for Children’s Rights, and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron launched Tuesday a campaign against cyber-bullying in schools at the Abi Dar Al Ghifari secondary school in Rabat.
The campaign, spearheaded by Princess Lalla Meryem, reflects Morocco’s determination to protect children against bullying in school, a global scourge that requires collective actions and a comprehensive approach centered on prevention and early detection of harassment.
The campaign, launched at the initiative by ONDE under the banner «Agissons ensemble» («Let’s Act Together»), includes several initiatives, such as distributing an awareness capsule on school bullying to 3,770 secondary schools and developing the «iTyhad» app, designed to combat and prevent bullying in schools. A three-year training program to fight bullying and cyberbullying was also launched in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports.
Princess Lalla Meryem and Brigitte Macron followed on this occasion a presentation on “iTyhad” App, and watched a video to raise awareness against bullying in schools. This video was broadcast simultaneously in 3,300 school multimedia, and attended a workshop against bullying.
Princess Lalla Meryem and the First Lady of France also watched a video on Children’s Parliament, created in 1999 by King Mohammed VI. This institution enables young people to become spokespersons for children.
Princess Lalla Meryem then handed over the prize bearing her name to the representative of the four engineering students who designed the “iTyhad” anti-bullying App offering solutions aimed fighting bullying in social media targeting children in schools.
Later in the day, the First Lady and Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, visited Rabat’s botanical test garden, where they followed a presentation of the various actions undertaken by the Foundation.
They also attended an aromatic plant workshop, marked by a sensory activity dedicated to preschool children, and followed a presentation of a module highlighting the importance of water for trees.
