ALECSO honors Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency for support to the Holy City and its residents

The Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency received the prestigious ALECSO Shield from the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO) in recognition of its outstanding efforts, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to support the Holy City of Al-Qods and its Palestinian residents.

The award was presented during a ceremony that marked the conclusion of a conference, held last week, on the educational challenges faced by children in Al-Quds.

Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, Director of the Rabat-based Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency, was handed the Shield in the presence of key figures, including Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education Amjad Barham and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Ashraf Al-Aawar, along with representatives from ALECSO and the Palestinian mission in Tunisia.

In a statement, the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency emphasized that this recognition reflects ALECSO’s commitment to fostering collaborative efforts among partner organizations to enhance the educational framework in Al-Qods.

The agency aims to preserve Palestinian national identity in intellectual and cultural domains, a point underscored by ALECSO Director General Mohamed Ould Amar during his opening remarks.

Cherkaoui also addressed the complexities surrounding the social situation in Al-Quds, highlighting the importance of understanding the city’s unique status and the challenges it faces.

Organized in partnership with the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, the conference featured discussions on pressing issues. Two significant documents were presented: one focused on Israeli policies affecting education in Al-Quds, and the other on international and humanitarian law concerning children’s rights and the responsibilities of international organizations.
